Clive Francis' adaptation of Graham Greene's bestselling novel is the first time that this satirical masterpiece has been brought to the stage. In the 1958 hit film Alec Guinness played Wormold - a vacuum cleaner salesman who lives in Cuba and is unwittingly recruited into the UK Secret Service. To placate Whitehall, Wormold begins to fabricate a series of highly ingenious stories only to discover that they prove alarmingly close to the truth... with disastrous results.

Simon Shepherd (best known for his role as Dr. Will Preston in Peak Practice) is joined by Kelly Adams (Mickie Hendrie in Holby City), Clive Francis (Dominic in office-based sitcom The 10%ers) and TV favourite Hywel Morgan.

The theatre will be embracing the play’s exotic setting with ‘Planters Punch’ Cuban cocktails being served at the bars throughout the run, a Cuban cigar display from Havana House and live Cuban music before the show and at the interval on the opening night and on Tuesday 25th. If there is one show this season that you must see – this is it. The theatre will be buzzing with Caribbean atmosphere – Latin music, Cuban cigars and Havana Club cocktails – so make sure you come and join us!
