Following on from the hugely successful productions of Absurd Person Singular and Tons of Money, Theatre Royal Windsor is proud to present Alan Ayckbourn’s If I Were You, a touching new comedy where role reversal is as heartfelt as it is humorous.
Liza Goddard, (Bergerac, Take Three Women, Yes, Honestly, Take Three Girls, The Brothers, Dr Who, Midsomer Murders), plays Jill alongside Jack Ellis as Mal. Best known for his roles in Coronation Street and in the award winning drama Bad Girls, Jack has a strong track record on stage with roles that include Orsino in Twelfth Night for the Royal Shakespeare Company. They are joined by Lauren Drummond, from the popular BBC show Waterloo Road and ITV drama The Royal, Ayden Callaghan (Miles de Souza in Emmerdale) and David Osmond, from The History Boys at the National Theatre.
Chaos ensues in this quick-witted comedy when a strange occurrence turns a tired, far from perfect marriage upside down and forces the couple to see each other (and themselves!) with fresh eyes ...literally!
Jill and Mal wake one morning to find they have switched bodies, and their increasingly desperate attempts to keep up appearances and fool the rest of the family sets off a hilarious chain of events that culminates in a new mutual understanding and appreciation. All it takes is a change of perspective to bring about a change of heart.
