JAMAICA INN

JAMAICA INN

Du Maurier’s enduring masterpiece was later adapted for the screen and directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

"That's no place for a girl," the coach driver tells Mary Yellan. Despite the warnings of the coachmen, young Mary chooses instead to journey across the rain swept moors to honour her mother's dying wish, that she start a new life with her Aunt Patience and Uncle Joss at Jamaica Inn. She soon discovers mysterious goings on in the dead of night and dark events taking place on the Cornish coast. Terrified by the inn’s brooding power, Mary gradually finds herself ensnared in the shady schemes and tempted by a handsome and mysterious stranger. As she searches for the truth, Jamaica Inn explores evil in its purest and most chilling form.
