What's On

Set on the mysterious wilderness of the Yorkshire moors, Wuthering Heights is a story of tortured love. Heathcliff, who is raised by Catherine Earnshaw’s family, develops strong feelings for her and they become inseparable until one day, she marries another man. Heathcliff leaves Wuthering Heights only to return years later with money and a plan to exact a terrible revenge on those who humiliated him and destroyed his happiness.

Published in 1847, Emily Bronte’s only novel is considered a masterpiece of English literature and has inspired many stage adaptations.

The Windsor Repertory Festival

Our Windsor Repertory Festival celebrates a model of theatre making that has recently been debated in the press and online, as actors and directors discuss the value of “Rep” in nurturing tomorrow’s stars. Over 3 weeks a team of professional actors and creatives will prepare a repertoire of plays which will be rehearsed during the day ready to open the following week, while that week’s play is performed each evening. This intense way of working is an incredible challenge for the company - and part of the reason we have a generation of actors in the UK with such a wide range of skills. It’s also a joy for audiences - you have the opportunity to enjoy top quality theatre made locally and get to know a company of actors over many different plays. John Counsell created the Windsor Repertory Company here in 1938. In 1988 it enjoyed its 50th birthday - in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother - and we’re delighted to continue that legacy with a season of wonderful plays and a company of the bravest, and brightest, stars of tomorrow!
