DIAL M FOR MURDER

THE ‘MURDER’ THAT INSPIRED THE HITCHCOCK CLASSIC

Former tennis pro Tony Wendice is convinced that his wealthy wife Sheila is having an affair and seeks his revenge. He plans the perfect murder, blackmailing an old friend into committing the crime… However, Tony is forced to improvise an alternative ploy when things don’t quite pan out. Will Tony be able to live with himself or will the Scotland Yard Inspector trap him into revealing his guilt? Frederick Knott’s intense and claustrophobic thriller was filmed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1954 starring Ray Milland, Grace Kelly, Robert Cummings and John Williams. The film was remade in 1998, with the title A Perfect Murder, starring Michael Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The Windsor Repertory Festival

Our Windsor Repertory Festival celebrates a model of theatre making that has recently been debated in the press and online, as actors and directors discuss the value of “Rep” in nurturing tomorrow’s stars. Over 3 weeks a team of professional actors and creatives will prepare a repertoire of plays which will be rehearsed during the day ready to open the following week, while that week’s play is performed each evening. This intense way of working is an incredible challenge for the company - and part of the reason we have a generation of actors in the UK with such a wide range of skills. It’s also a joy for audiences - you have the opportunity to enjoy top quality theatre made locally and get to know a company of actors over many different plays. John Counsell created the Windsor Repertory Company here in 1938. In 1988 it enjoyed its 50th birthday - in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother - and we’re delighted to continue that legacy with a season of wonderful plays and a company of the bravest, and brightest, stars of tomorrow!
